‘Hapoel Hof Ashkelon’ is made up of young players from the kibbutzim and communities around the Gaza envelope. They embarked on a journey with their legendary coach, Sagi, to a basketball camp hosted by the Jewish communities in Boca Raton, Hollywood, and Miami.
This was a voyage of victory, forging heartfelt connections between local youth and Israelis teens, and fostering healing and recovery.
”Words can’t describe what you’ve done for us. It was a journey beyond my wildest expectations” said their proud Coach Sagi.

"I am so proud of the kids; they behaved very well, were polite, and respectful. They had the best time, and for most of them, it was a dream come true!We are facing tough times in Israel. I believe Israel is a country in continuous trauma. But one thing I know for sure: no one can break the Israeli spirit, no one can break the unity of our people, and you have a big part in that, that's for sure. Our kids felt the love you have for them; they felt at home from the first moment. And I am so thankful for that.These guys are like my own kids; I have coached some of them since they were 6 years old. I am blessed to be in a position to influence these young men. Uria's father was a good friend of mine. I know he is proud of him, wherever he is.Even though it's hard, it's important to let the emotions flow. As Shane said: 'the most important thing is what you do next!
This life-changing project wouldn't have been possible without key figures in the Boca Raton, Hollywood, and Miami communities, as well as the hosting families who graciously opened their homes and hearts.
